"They Mis sold me the car"

Resolving issues

I have had several issues with Trade Price Cars. They advertised the car I purchased as a 2010 car in the autotrader for a price of £12000 and it was not until I purchased some spark plugs for a 2009 car 2 month later I found out it was a 2006 model and not the latest model I thought I was buying. I have lots of information about this if you need it. The car was actually imported from Southern Ireland in 2009 and registered for retail in the UK then as well but it was manufactured in 2006 and must have been stuck in a field over there. So it was mis sold to me with Trade Price cars advertising it as a 2010 model. The next issue is with an oil leak I had from day one and they refused to take any responsibility for it. My partner noticed the oil leak on the drive 2 days after I had purchased the car but they insisted it was not there when they sold it to me and we were basically lying. More information is available. The next issue is the MOT the car had an MOT in February of last year then in September of last year when I purchased the car. The MOT in February had 2 advisories one for the tyre tread being 3mm on the 2 rear tyres and the other one was for a blowing exhaust the MOT in September which was done by Trade Price Cars had no advisories but the thread on the back tyres was then 2mm and the exhaust was still blowing and I had to buy another back box as the pipe had come away where it had split. All this is terrible customer service does not exist. So can some action be taken against this company I have lots of correspondence and evidence to back all the above. A 2006 Nissan Z350 in very good condition with similar mileage would have cost around £8500 so the £12000 I paid thing it was a younger 2009 model is £3500 to much. They would have known all about the car but never let me know.

Peter in response to They Mis sold me the car

I have had the pleasure speaking with Trade Price Cars today concerning my several issues. I can understand if some people think I have something against Trade Price Cars I do not I found the sales team nice and friendly hence all the 4 stars. But if you have issues the customer care is nil they do not admit to anything and push it down your throat to contact the Warranty company., Anyway I was speaking with them today and talking about the issues I have and was told that is a matter of opinion but they have not been able to prove my issues are not valid so just hot air as usual. I advised that if you can prove me wrong then say something they are very arrogant about things. So my issues carry on. More to come

Daniel Kirby from in response to They Mis sold me the car

Hi Peter, The tyre depths on the Pre-Delivery inspection sheet that you have sent in demonstrates that we have identified that they were low (2-3mm) as part of our checks and that we have replaced the two rear tyres as required prior to MOT and prior to sale. You yourself have acknowledged via your chosen garage that the rear tyres are new on your latest letter to us. However you are looking at the measurements on our pre-delivery inspection sheet (pre-sale & pre-mot) So to claim that our pre delivery inspection is not a worthy document is unfounded. All this demonstrates is that we have done what we are required to do. We have checked the car, highlighted that the tyres are low and replaced them as necessary before advertising the car for sale.. In relation to the exhaust An MOT confirms AT THE TIME OF TEST that such a fault may/maynot be present in relation to the road worthiness in the opinion of the MOT tester at that particular moment. We aren’t the MOT tester, we sub contract the MOT’s. One can assume that at the time of test, his/her opinion was that there wasn’t an exhaust blow, otherwise he/she would have reported it. This would be consistent with our non finding’s (as part of our pdi) as we also didn’t report on it. Exhaust’s do expand due to the heat generated, so dependant on test conditions this could likely be why something did/didn’t get noted. Also the varying twist on the chassis depending on the style of ramp used ie 2 poster / 4 poster or indeed just an MOT pit could have an effecting factor. There are 3 variations in test conditions there alone. But importantly neither us, or the MOT test station could fault AT THE TIME OF TEST. We have however offered to pay for a replacement exhaust for you at the cost of £500 plus and the cost of repair on the oil leak and an additional £200 as goodwill. We can't be fairer then that? The vehicle also hasn't been mis-sold it is a 2010 10 Nissan 350z. It is the last of the old shape yes correct, but it always was last of the old shape. The examples of vehicles you have sent in your most recent letter in regards to how a car is advertised is being misinterpreted by you, not mis represented by us. So example one is a 2006 (56 Reg) meaning that it was registered in 2006 and from September onwards in that year a 56plate. So being a 2006 56 And example two is a 2007 (07Reg) meaning that it was registered in 2007 and an 07 being between march 2007 – September 2007. You are implying that in example one that the 2006 element is the year it was built and the 56 is the year it was registered. IT ISN’T. That 2006 56 registered car would have been built before 2006. So it could be 2004 Build registered in 2006 on a 56 plate. There is NO REFERENCE to BUILD DATE anywhere, on ANY advertising platform EVER and never will be. I cant change that fact, It’s the Autotrader’s of this world that decide what data is displayed on the adverts to consumers. Your expecting to see your advertised vehicle as a 2006 (10 Plate) it would have never been this and Autotrader can confirm this. Yours was advertised as a 2010 (10) as that’s what it was as per the advert. The build year is irrelevant. You have also implied that we are not under the Trading Standards Scheme, I can correct you and clarify that we are as per all the information on our website. You have also been in direct contact with Trading Standards who have also clarified that we are on the Buy With Confidence Scheme and that we haven't mis-sold you the vehicle, and have gone above and beyond in our offerings to you in relation to the exhaust and oil leak problem.

I bought a car from Trade Price Essex. The 1st breakdown after 12 weeks. 6 months gone the car developed serious engine issues. Dealer didn't want to know. As was on finance, luckliy got financial ombudsman looking into it.

Daniel Kirby from in response to J nichols

Hi Mr Nichols, All our vehicles come with a 6 Month Warranty as standard with the option to extend firstly at the point of sale and secondly prior to the 6 months expiring. You chose not to extend at either point and had a problem after the 6 month warranty. We are of course sorry to here you have experienced a problem however I'm sure you can appreciate we can't help in relation to footing the bill. We did however offer to do a favourable Part Exchange deal for you to best help you out of the situation. The financial ombudsman filled the same result as the advice we originally gave. Regards Dan

Having dealt with this company over phone calls, the dealer withdrew their offer. They wasted two days of my time and lost work. Extremely poor service. Very frustrated at lack of clarity. Would not recommend Trade Price Cars Essex to anyone.

I totally agree with you they have no customer refused to take any blame for the issues I had but I stuck with it and I am now proving them wrong but they never answer my questions just come out with rubbish nothing to do with my question or there favourite noting to do with us now contact the warranty company then get nasty if you question them, see a rough outline of my issues below. Hi, Thanks for taking the time to review, and sorry that you've had a negative experience. We don't intentionally withdraw any offers in relation to finance, however if there is a discrepancy with the information originally given by you to us at the point of payout by the lender then they with withdraw the offer. All we can recommend is that all our customer's give us accurate information at the point of application. We are not the finance company, we are the introducing dealer so we don't make the decisions in relation to money being lent. Kind Regards Trade Price Cars Team

I bought a Ford from Trade Price Cars, I actually got the car deleivered to me which was nice! The dealer was pretty knowledgeable and helpful. Their only flaw was the aftercare, wasn't very good. Other than that they were good and I would still recommend them!

The initial service was very good, got things sorted for me and I drove away in the car I wanted. The journey to get there was only about 30 miles so not to bad to be fair. One slight issue now is I cant get in contact with them and it seems like there ignoring me which is a shame because other than that they were good.

I cant say I was overall impressed with Trade Price Cars Essex. I wouldnt recommend them to others as the car had bits wrong with it and I had to take it back, they did resolve the issues but it wasnt quick and I had a wait until the car was appropriate. I do feel the car was good value for money it was just the service that let it down.

I was originally very happy with the car and service at Trade Price Cars. The guys there have been very helpful to be fair.. I Have had lots of issues with the Range Rover I bought from them, they have been very helpful in getting things fixed but Iv'e also had to pay for bits. I would still recommend them as its not entirely there fault the car has issues but they should checked before they sold it to me. However apart from the issues they have been very good!
